Are you planning to buy a Dolce Gusto coffee maker? We have summarised the main advantages and disadvantages of each model that is compatible with our refillable Dolce Gusto capsules, which we offer for 16,90 € / set of 3 capsules.
Dolce Gusto Piccolo
Probably the most popular model at the moment, mainly because of the price. Piccolo can be purchased from €36 including VAT. The Piccolo coffeemaker is very easy to use.
It has 2 functions: hot and cold water. Nothing more, but what more do we need, especially at this price :-).
The coffee machine has a pressure of 15 bar and a water tank capacity of 0.6 litres. It is a really small coffee machine, suitable for a smaller kitchen or office. Due to its size, the height of the cup can be adjusted, which will please any hot chocolate or frappe lover. A smaller water tank can be a drawback if you have a coffee machine in your office (without a sink) and want to enjoy coffee more often. The machine also lacks a water dispenser.
Pros: price, compactness.
Cons: smaller water tank, no option of water dose setting.
Dolce Gusto Genio
Similar in design to the Piccolo, but more advanced in terms of functionality. The Dolce Gusto Genio coffee machine has an interesting feature: a water dispenser. On the original capsules, the manufacturer indicates the amount of water required for the preparation of the drink on special strips. These strips can be adjusted on the Genio. The Genio dispenses only the selected amount of water into the cup.
The second difference is the size of the tank, which is 1 litre, again contributing to the slightly larger size.
The water dosage function makes the coffee machine quite expensive. You can buy a Genio coffee maker for around €100, so it is up to you whether you need the water dosage.
Pros: option to adjust the water amount.
Cons: higher price
Dolce Gusto Melody
Like the Genio, the Melody has an automatic water dispenser and a larger 1.3-litre tank.
The Melody coffee maker retails for around €70.
Dolce Gusto Circolo
This is an older model that is difficult to find as it is no longer in production. It has almost the same features as the Piccolo. The difference lies in the shape. As the name suggests, it has an oval shape. There is also a difference in the capacity of the water tank. The Circolo can hold 1.3 litres of water. There is no water dosage function.
Dolce Gusto Creativa
Also an older model that is usually no longer available. This model offered perhaps the most extensive range of features. The Creativa coffeemaker has a colour display that allows you to set the amount of water for each type of drink, with the option to save the settings. The display can also be used to synchronise the lack of water in the tank. Tank capacity 1.5l. Same pressure as other models, 15 bar.
All Dolce Gusto coffee machines can be used with our refillable ECO capsules. You can use one refillable capsule up to 50 times. Pack of 3 pcs can be found with us for 16,90 €.
